Solid State Equipment has been manufacturing automatic earthquake gas shutoff valves in New Zealand since 1971. Their product isn’t sold on looks — it’s sold on trust: a seismic sensor that has to trip in milliseconds and hasn’t got a second chance to get it right. The site’s job is to earn that trust for an audience of engineers, building compliance officers, and specifiers, not casual visitors.
The build
This is a content-led brochure site rather than an app: product specs, compliance detail, and application-specific pages (commercial buildings, hospitals, apartments) laid out so a specifier can find the exact number or standard they need without digging through a PDF. The design leans into the technical nature of the product — spec callouts, response times, sensitivity ranges — instead of hiding it behind generic marketing copy.
Why it’s here
Not every small business needs a web app — a lot of them need a site that makes a technical, high-stakes product legible to the people who have to sign off on it. Solid State is the clearest example in this portfolio of that brief: no dashboard, no login, just a fast, well-structured site built to convert specifiers and pass scrutiny from people who read datasheets for a living.
